My delightful father, James A. Edmonds, Jr., passed away peacefully on April 10, 2011 at 91 years of age.
His online memorial is available for you to enjoy photos, memories, and to sign the guest book in his honor, if you wish.
Dad was born on April 6, 1920 in Idabel, OK. He served in the US Navy during World War II. Starting in 1946, Jim started his career in the real estate industry. He served as president of City & Suburban Mortgage, served two terms (1983-1990) as Commissioner of the California Department of Real Estate, served on the board of the California Association of Realtors, and served as president of the California Mortgage Bankers Association and of NARELLO.
The video above was taken in April 2010, a week before Dad’s 90th birthday, in his home office in Long Beach, CA.
Dad was very generous with his time, talent, and treasure. He served as a fund raiser, board member, and board president with the YMCA of Greater Long Beach. He also supported the Long Beach Community Hospital foundation.
Dad was dedicated to his wife, Mary Jaene. They traveled around the world together, learning about different cultures. He was a heart-driven servant leader, a terrific listener, and had a wonderful dry sense of humor.
Dad is survived by his wife, Mary Jaene Edmonds, of Corona del Mar, CA, son James William Edmonds of Phoenixville, PA, son Steven Christopher Edmonds of Conifer, CO, five grand children, and six great-grandchildren.

Services, with full military honors, were held at the National Veterans Cemetery in Riverside, CA, on Tuesday, May 3, 2011.
In lieu of flowers, donations honoring my father’s memory may be made to the YMCA of Greater Long Beach ENDOWMENT FUND, 3605 Long Beach Blvd., Suite 210, Long Beach, CA 90807 or online.
We’ll meet you, before too long, in Heaven, Pop.
